AS/NZS 2845 Part 3 specifies the requirements for field testing and maintenance of a range of backflow prevention devices, ensuring continued performance and protection of potable water systems.

Scope of AS/NZS 2845 Part 3

This Standard covers the field testing and maintenance of the following backflow prevention devices:

1. Registered break tank (RBT)

2. Registered air gap (RAG)

3. Pressure-type vacuum-breaker (PVB)

4. Spill resistant pressure vacuum-breaker (SPVB)

5. Reduced-pressure-zone device (RPZD)

6. Double check valve (DCV)

7. Reduced-pressure-detector assembly (RPDA)

8. Double check detector assembly (DCDA)

9. Single check valve (testable) (SCVT)

10. Single check detector assembly (testable) (SCDAT)

11. Atmospheric vacuum breakers (AVB)

• Single check valve (SCVT) and single check detector assembly (SCDAT) — items (i) and (j) — do not apply to New Zealand.
